Every 38 minutes, Make-A-Wish® grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories. We believe that a wish experience can be a game-changer. This one belief guides us in everything we do. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.
Make-A-Wish® Northeastern California and Northern Nevada’s mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions and to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Founded in 1983, Make-A-Wish® Northeastern California and Northern Nevada has granted nearly 5,000 wishes since its beginning. While the organization follows the policies and guidelines of Make-A-Wish® America, it operates as a separate 501(c)(3) organization. All funds raised by our chapter are used to fulfill our mission in the 37 Northeastern California and Northern Nevada counties we serve.
Locally, Make-A-Wish® grants approximately 250 wishes to local children each year.
In 2009, with the help of the communities it serves, Make-A-Wish® opened The Wishing Place, a child-friendly and inviting place where children with life-threatening medical conditions are encouraged to dream big and have their wishes come true.
