Stand With Us
World Relief Modesto mobilizes local churches and volunteers to effectively and passionately serve refugees in our local community.
Each year, World Relief Modesto helps hundreds of refugees – victims of war and persecution around the globe – replant their lives in Stanislaus County. World Relief staff, volunteers & churches walk alongside newcomers, providing support as they adjust to life in their new community.
We believe God has equipped the church – the most diverse social network on the planet – to be at the center of the stories of the vulnerable, leveraging time, energy and resources to join them in their time of need. World Relief seeks to empower church and community members to Stand for the Vulnerable.
Stand With Refugees Locally
Volunteers play a critical role in helping refugees adjust to life in America. Whether exploring neighborhoods together, building friendships, or practicing English over a cup of tea, volunteers accompany refugees as they settle into their new lives. Here are just a few ways you can get involved:
- Help teach the basics of English to an adult refugee in their home and become friends in the process!
- Collect furniture and household supplies for refugees’ first apartments.
- Welcome a newly arriving family at the airport and have dinner with them.
- Get to know a refugee family and help them adapt to America by providing consistent friendship and cultural empowerment.
- And much more…
