More than 87,000 people in Stanislaus County have a disability, according to the 2010 US Census. The Society’s mission is to enhance the lives and self-sufficiency of adults and children with disabilities. Our mission is carried out through our recreational programs, educational classes and services, that we offer the community. Water Skiing, Snow Skiing, Bike Camp, Special Needs Prom, Day on the Farm and Sign Language classes are some of the opportunities that we currently offer.
We operate the largest medical equipment Loan Closet in the area, offering short term and long term loans of wheelchairs, commodes, walkers and other equipment at no cost or low cost. Our Special Needs Fund was established to purchase specialized equipment for those who cannot afford to purchase it. This equipment is purchased on a loan basis. Through our efforts and with help from the communities’ donations, more than $200,000 worth of equipment is loaned out each year. Participation in our programs has steadily increased each year and the demand continues to grow.
We currently own and operate two thrift stores, both called “Endless Possibilities Thrift Store,” in Modesto, with proceeds benefiting our organization. These thrift stores also serve as workforce development programs, providing job training in partnership with area employment organizations and programs, including those for adults and teens with special needs. Donations to our stores are greatly appreciated; clothing, house wares, furniture, appliances, toys… Your donation is tax deductible!
